Design Non-Profit Projects

Pierce has worked with a number of charities and non-profit organisations, particularly designing artwork for community awareness and educational materials including posters, pamphlets and signage. Pierce’s art has often been used to highlight a number of serious Australian social issues.

In 1987, Rebecca was appointed Creative Director of NAPCAN (National Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect). This independent Australian charity produces national campaigns and distributes free resources that promote positive alternatives to create awareness of and prevent child abuse. NAPCAN works with National, State Government and Non-Government organisations to develop child protection legislation, policies and practices that are in the best interests of children. Pierce has been involved with ACCAP (Australian Council for Children and Parenting), an advisory body to the Federal Government, and the charity Good Beginnings, a Parenting Project providing support to parents and communities to create nurturing environments in which babies and young children can thrive. Pierce also worked with First Steps Count, Child and Family Centre, a lighthouse project designed to create a welcoming and safe environment where families and services come together to provide the best possible opportunity for children to become caring contributing members of the community.

On Australia Day 2005, Rebecca received the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to child protection, community awareness and education and her role as the Government appointed Principal Artist for Australia’s Centenary of Federation 1901-2001.
